We initiate the study of dark matter models based on a gapped continuum. Dark consists mixture states with continuous mass distribution, which evolves as universe expands. present an effective field theory describing continuum, outline structure Hilbert space and show how to deal thermodynamics such system. This formalism enables us cosmological evolution phenomenology continuum DM in detail. As concrete example, we consider weakly-interacting (WIC) model, counterpart familiar WIMP. The interacts SM via Z-portal. model successfully reproduces observed relic density, while direct detection constraints are avoided due effect kinematics. has striking observational consequences, including decays throughout history, well cascade produced at colliders. also describe WIC can arise from local, unitary scalar QFT propagating five-dimensional warped background soft wall.
